  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day-to-day basis I support project managers to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours of monitoring, managing and controlling projects and programmes. I work with key stakeholders to ensure the projects and programmes are progressing and facilitate meetings to keep key documentation up to date and relevant. Ensuring the Project and Programme is progressing as it has committed to and clear to senior stakeholders through reports.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to work effectively and efficiently with stakeholders, in order to influence them and work with them to add value and reach project objectives. Also, scope management, risk and issue management and conflict management. I have developed on my communication, time management, and Microsoft skills. I am currently working on gaining experience from future planned courses that have been made available to attend.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working for a well recognised brand and grateful for all of the unique opportunities I have been able to participate in. I have gained an in-depth insight into project management within BA and hold a valuable amount of experience and knowledge. I look forward to taking this forward with me to excel as my apprenticeship draws to and end.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As the programme has progressed, timescales and deadlines have been identified along the way. Which, at first was tricky to understand where we aiming to get to and by when. However, BA have supported my development and study time in order to meet these dates. Which has made me feel less anxious.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Through open and honest meetings with my programme manager, placement manager and line manager; BA provide me with the right level of support. BA consist of a community who care and invest in your development. They encourage and are strong advocates for the learning journey, which provides me with the safe environment to take on challenges and develop my learning.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support we receive from our training provider is often provided during workshops and sessions organised 121. Which is usually on a monthly / bi-monthly basis. During our exam period we had a great level of support, although it seems to have declined a bit, we are working closely with our trainer to maintain the level of support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • We have learnt the skills, behaviour and knowledge which helps me to add value to my placements. With consideration that not all organisations follow the 'APM' way and methodology, this has helped to form the foundation of my project management journey. BA have allowed me to build upon those foundations and shape me into a better project manager.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have monthly - quarterly awaydays with our teams; selected awaydays are often combined with another departments to encourage networking and the opportunity to share experiences. BA hold many charity events which are open for all to join. In the portfolio office we offer knowledge sharing opportunities over lunch as well as, socials out of work time.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BA provide many opportunities for growth and development, the business is always looking to support and invest in you. I have been involved in opportunities I would never have imagined and gained invaluable experiences from them. Which, has given me the motivation and determination to do the best I can.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • Take advantage of all of the opportunities you can get involved in inside and outside of school. Be sure to do the best you can during exams. If you have a Saturday job, build up your experience. Extract all the experience you have developed from opportunities and use them to provide strong examples for your application and interview.
