My job role is to learn how the assembly line operates on a daily basis. A typical week includes four days at chichester college completing a level 3 manufacting course which involves workshop and hand fitting activities but also written assignments which relate to the workshop actvities. Furthermore, a day a week is spent at rolls royce learning and involving myself on the assmly line.
During time at college i have gained many new skills which assist me with roles at rolls royce such as welding. In addition, i am currently completing my level 2 ICT functinal skills which i hadnt previously studies. This will benefit my learning and development at both college and Rolls Royce.
During the 8/9 months attending both chichester college and Rolls Royce i have found enjoyment. Personally coming from an engineering oriented family, this apprenticeship has suited me very very well, considering the involvment and exposure of production enginnering at rolls royce but also workshop engineering at college. Really looking forward to the up and coming months.
The structure and organisation at Rolls Royce has been very reliable. When attending work i am clearon my role and where i stand on the line. In addition, i am clear on my personal goal for work related activities. However, during my time at college i have not recieved the same structure or organisation as the UPK questions changed part way through the course and te introdution of onefile which still hasnt been successfully explained.
During my time at Rolls Royce i have recieved a substantial amount of support whether that be from my apprentice coach or my assigned process leader. Support involving line work or college work is offered and can be transfered to college or vica-versa. I am satisfied with the support at work and believe it as improved my involvement within the company.
During my time at college i have recieved a satisfactory amount of support from my college tutor, student support tutor and my college peers. Support is provided for both practical and theory based activities by my college tutor and additional support is provided in the form of a one to one wth our student support tutor.
The qualification i am working towards at college i believe does help me perform better within my job role at Rolls Royce. The practical side of my college qualification is benfitial to the work im involved in at Rolls Royce due to the fact i come into contact and trained on similar tools.
Extra-curricular activities are available within Rolls Royce and are accessable to all apprentices. Currently, a team of apprentices have been chosen to involve themselves in a go-carting project in coorporation with a local school. These opportunities have the potential to improve skills that can be transferred to both college and work.
Yes
I would personally recommend BMW group to a friend as the opportunities available to progress within the company are uncompareable to any other company i have researched or applied for. Futhermore, the support available gives you to correct amount of confidence to apply yourself further ultimately imcreasing chnaces of progression and success.
Don't hesitate to apply! The company is brilliant and something i will never regret getting involved in. However, when applying ensure the course you wish to apply for you believe suits you best. Although any opportunity to get involved within this company is a good opportunity. Finally, be yourself!
