Detecting potentially fraudulent activity by comparing/analysing patterns and taking callers through security, alongside dealing with the aftermath of fraud and scams. Creating awareness of Barclays products and services to assist customers in self servicing and protecting their accounts. The role typically consists of speaking to various types of customers.
I have learnt various new skills due to my role, which include communication skills, analytical skills, the ability to use my initiative and trust my instincts. I have also developed my interpersonal skills alongside my ability to develop in a professional environment. I have also learnt a lot due to the apprenticeship, specifically relating to various aspects of retail banking.
I have enjoyed the majority of the programme as I have learnt various things about banking which has in turn improved my financial capability. As the apprenticeship was initially in house and then outsourced to knowledgepool there have been various issues that have delayed the completion of the programme and effected the overall enjoyment
The programme was initially well structured before being outsourced and due to this there was a lot of miscommunication and ways of completing modules were misinterpreted and therefore required to be redone. There have been various changes throughout the programme that have negatively impacted the structure of the overall programme.
In my opinion Barclays have done everything they can to support me during the programme. I have been allocated enough time to complete tasks and any additional support required would be offered should I need it. There have been issues with the training provider and contact has been limited, making it difficult to obtain additional information or support with the programme.
The support throughout the programme has been inconsistent and poor due to the training provider taking over the programme half way through. It has been extremely difficult to contact training providers and multiple mandatory modules have been left incomplete due to the training provider not being able to handle the volume of people on the programme.
As the training is mainly self-completed it has allowed me to work at my own pace and take in various aspects of retail banking. While the programme was in-house we were receiving weekly sessions breaking down each topic which really helped the information sink in. This stopped when the training provider took over.
There are various extra curricular activities within Barclay's and various charity nights have been arranged. Social activities are communicated regularly via email and professional networking events and internal job opportunities are readily available. As teams we also partake in charity days that are completed in work time and can be to help a cause of our choice.
Yes
Barclays have been a great employer to work for overall and the standards and focus on wellbeing make it a relaxed environment. The roles are challenging and allow me to learn about different aspects of banking which can improve my financial capability. The incentives and social aspects at Barclays are great alongside their focus on individual progression.
I would advise them that Barclays focus on wellbeing and individual progression makes it easy to deal with any personal problems while at work and it is best to start the business with an idea of the route that you would like to take with regards to progressing through the business.
