  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a social media apprentice, it is my role and responsibility to ensure our social channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube etc.) are up to date with new content for our online audiences. I review content published by our campaign managers, ensuring that it's within our Sage brand guidelines, offers support and advice to our fans and followers and is appropriate for our channels.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since tarting Sage, my interpersonal skill set has developed greatly. To list a few; teamwork, communication, time-management, ICT and many more. I've become comfortable working with new people and public speaking is now a key skill of mine. Working with different colleagues from around the business has allowed me to develop these skills, making me a valued member of our team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've thoroughly enjoyed the program so far. The workload is balanced and I feel well supported by both my manager and my learning tutor. The knowledge I gain from this apprenticeship course can be implemented into my every day role and I feel I've benefited greatly from what I've learned so far.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have regular communications with my tutor who organises any meetings or reviews throughout the course of this apprenticeship. The only feedback I would give is to have an official timetable or schedule so I can visually see when I next have communication with my tutor and which topics we will be covering, as well as any exams I have coming up. This way, I won't have to rely on an email.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is supportive of training times, meetings etc however I sometimes feel as though I struggle to allocate time specifically for apprenticeship work. I often have a busy schedule at work and feel as I squeeze my coursework in where I can. This is something that I need to work on myself as well.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has been very supportive throughout the course of this apprenticeship so far. I feel as though I can contact her at any time if I have an issue or need support. The meetings/reviews I have with her are always clear and I'm given clear instructions for coursework between sessions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The knowledge I gain from my qualification is easily implemented into my roles and responsibilities as a social media apprentice. The work I'm given relates to the tasks I undertake within my job role and helps me develop my knowledge/skills further, completing all my work to higher standards.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My company offer a program called Sage Foundation, where we are given five days a year to work offsite supporting local businesses/charities and giving back to our community. These events are always good fun and an opportunity to get social and meet new people from different areas of the business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sage to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Sage is a well known, global company and offers amazing experience in building your career. The workforce is mainly positive and motivates me to do well in my role, with colleagues who I've made good friends with. The benefits scheme that Sage offers is amazing and does well to give back to colleagues for their work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage?
  • My application process for Sage went fairly quickly, where I applied for the role, had an interview and was hired within a week. My interview is something I was particular worried about however it was laid-back and chatty. My advice would be to go in open minded and don't be intimidated by the scale of the business. It's a professional workforce but it's also a place where colleagues have fun alongside their work so don't worry about being to "corporate". Just relax.
