I am currently in a PMO role. This involves managing the risks, issues, actions and deliverables for the project. I am also responsible for bringing people onto the project and helping people roll off the project, managing various trackers, running daily calls and internal communications emails for the project.
I have developed my soft skills a lot in my current role. My role requires me to communicate with a lot of people and build relationships. It has also given me the opportunity to work on my organisation skills and I have learnt a lot of shortcuts in excel.
I enjoy the programme a lot. I have had a lot of opportunity to travel with Capgemini, I've learnt a lot about how projects work and I have met a lot of amazing people. Everyone that I have encountered so far has been helpful and welcoming which has made my experience so far a lot more enjoyable.
The course that I am on is relatively new but it is still quite well organised. There is a lot of communication around events and information relating to the degree in the form of newsletters, emails, meetings etc. There is a lot of information available relating to the structure of the degree apprenticeship which is extremely helpful.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. We all get assigned a reviewer when we join who is there to answer any questions that we might have and provide guidance. We also have quarterly calls about my apprenticeship where we can voice any concerns, these concerns are taken seriously and actioned in my experience.
The degree part of my apprenticeship is provided by Aston University in Birmingham. The lecturers are all easily contactable via email and each module comes with a variety of online materials put together for us by the lecturers. We also have weekly webinars where we can ask any questions and voice concerns.
I feel like the course that I am currently on contains modules that are extremely useful for my job such as opperations management, managing people and team leading, project management and communication to name a few. Learning about these topics in depth enables me to perfom better at work because I am aware of alternative approaches to situations and am able to see problems coming.
There are a lot of social activities to take part in at work. There are social events multiple times throughout the year that are speciifcally for apprentices and graduate to get together. There are also events like palace2palace which Capgemini takes part in and each team within Capgemini also organise events to do training or talk about exciting things happening in their area.
