I'm contracted onto various engagements for varied amounts of time, this can be for a few months or a few years. My role requires me to write and query code depending on the clients specified needs and test if the newly added functionality works as it's required to.
I've learnt a lot of new skills, mostly coding and working within an agile environment. One of my main skills I've developed is SQL and Java. I've began learning automation, which I'll hopefully become more proficient in. Furthermore, I've recently learnt how to write specifications for the developers to use when adding new funcitonality.
I'm still fairly new to the programme, that being said, so far I've had a lot of support and always feel like I've always got someone to ask my questions to. I find it's continual learning and you're given the chance to try different roles to find what you prefer.
Conference calls take place frequently, for different reasons, i.e. apprentice calls, business unit calls. These calls have different purposes and can give you a chance to talk to others to recieve support. Most people get allocated a buddy, they're there for any questions you have. Furthermore, I have quarterly catch ups too with the project managers where you can discuss any queries.
There are many events and activities to participate in. Since being on my first account there have been many opportunities to go for dinner with colleagues, go go karting, panitballing etc. There's also a lot of charity events, including fancy dress 5Ks, santa dashs, volunteering at school fairs etc.
Yes
The working environment is great, it feels more like a community. Everyone wants the best for you and you're able to try new roles, your opinion is heard no matter what grade you are therefore you feel valued on the role. Also, everyone is approachable and open to help.
Be yourself.
