I am based in the banking hall. I use the ipad to locate customers, I complete day to day transactions for them such as getting balances, completing transfers and ordering cards. I also help customers with the use of the automated machines. On the automated machines I am on hand to help customers deposit cash and cheques as well as complete transfers.
I have developed my communication skills. As I deal with customers each day my communication skills have improved. My listening skills have also improved as I am able to listen to customers and identify ways in which I can help them. I have also become much more empathetic and am able to put myself in the customers position to understand their thoughts and feelings. This allows me to find ways in which I can help the customer.
I enjoy my apprenticeship as I am doing my job each day like all other members of staff but I also get a qualification out of it which is really great. I also enjoy learning about the different modules in the apprenticeship and apply them to my job each day.
I have great communication with my talent coach, we keep in touch via email. I keep her updated with how things are going. I also see her once a month, either face to face or a phonecall, overall it is really well structured and I know where am I and can stay up to date.
I receive a great amount of support from my employer. Barclays have been really accommodating towards my apprenticeship and have also helped me with my struggles of Dsylexia. Barclays give me allocated time to complete all my apprenticeship work which is really helpful for me and helps me ensure that I stay up to date on all my work and that I don't fall behind.
Again, I receive a great amount of help from knowledge pool. My talent coach is really supportive and is always available if I need to speak with her about anything. She helps me if I am ever stuck and is always able to give me advice and point me in the right direction.
I feel like my qualification has allowed me to look into different modules to give me a much greater understanding of different topics. It allows me to apply this knowledge each day to my job so that I am putting my knowledge into practice. It is also really interesting to look into these modules.
There are no extra curricular activities for me to get involved in in my workplace. However, I do have a match funding event coming up. I will be going to a choir performance at a local church and I will be helping to sell raffle tickets in order to raise money for a Parkinson's charity. Barclays will then match whatever is raised.
Yes
Barclays is a really inclusive place to work. All members of staff work together as a team and ensure that everyone that comes to work is happy and supported. All members of staff look out for one another and are more than happy to help other team members. Management go above and beyond for staff to ensure that there are no problems sand if so they are dealt with efficiently.
I would say to definitely go for it. There is so much to learn and Barclays is a really great company to work for. Barclays is really inclusive and there are so many different opportunities to progress personally and professionally. It is a very team oriented company. There is lots of support given at all times.
