The person banker role is helping customers with their everyday needs. This could be simple things I.e paying in cash and cheques to more complex queries I.e fraud, bereavements, business mandates etc. There is also a side bit which is the coursework for the apprenticeship which I’m yet to start
The main skills that I have learnt are mainly on the job itself like how to use the system, what id to accept and where to look for fraud etc. In my general skills it has taught me patience and to not judge a book by its cover, as you don’t know what a customer is going through
So far I’m enjoying it a lot. I’ve already been put in for employee of the month and also been invited to a reward meal up in London which is great as it shows they’re recognising my efforts. The more I learn, the better it will be
It’s hard to judge this place exactly due to sometimes the system not always updating straight away. What I mean by this is that I’ve still not been fully registered with my training provider due to technical difficulties so I haven’t officially started the apprenticeship if that makes sense
My general team are very helpful and the managers help where they can, even simple things to do with swapping days to bigger things like training on the job. Whenever there has been a problem so far, I’ve mostly managed to sort them with the support of my team
Again this is hard for me to answer at the current time. I still haven’t officially been en rolled due to technical problems so there is nothing for me to really comment on. The only coursework/exam I’ve done so far is an internal one that Everyone in the bank does
I think the fact that it’s an apprenticeship gives you more of a chance to walk into the job and not know much but be given that chance to learn. Essentially the training that I will eventually receive when fully enrolled will help me with my job in general
Not really so far, there has been talk about meet ups with the team in general but not for a professional situation. Only the reward evening in London I would count as a professional event which is rewarding my achievements and that could be good for networking and getting to know more people
Yes
Overall they are a good employer with friendly staff and an opportunity to grow and work your way up the ladder. The fact that the company is so big means there are a lot of avenues I can take in the future. Also the pay is very good fo an apprenticeship role
Try walk in with an open mind, not everything works how you’d think it works and there is a lot To learn but with the right mindset you’ll Be fine. If you are looking for a long term career as well then this is a great company to work for
