  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role in PRET is Team Member star. After 3 months as a simple team member I graduate as Team Member Star last December. I usually work in the kitchen making sandwiches and baguettes and sometimes I work in front with customers just in the till. Usually my work is from Monday to Friday.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In my case, this job with PRET is one of my first ever and as well my first ever work in a foreign country. It was challenging at the beginning because the language is a big barrier and also I didn't have a lot of experience in hospitality. So, I have developed a lot of new skills most of them in the company in daily work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really like the PRET apprenticeship programe because all the trips we did to see logistic center and one of the supplier makes you understand how huge and complex the company is. It's more than a shop. So that's makes me realize about that. As well other day we have in London, they were useful as well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • To be honest it's well organized. The programme takes 9 months what it's a good time and also the team is supporting you step by step in your journey. The induction was clear and made us realize how the programme will be. The training with the regional mentors is okay as well and it's always providing us with good tips and learnings.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Manager has always been nice about the programe and they were always willing to help me in the case I need anything. I'm living in Manchester, so it was also more complicated because the need to find trains and buses for me all the time. But they were okay all time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As well, my regional trainer is amazing, always willing to help and really nice person. He has been in contact with me all the time and every time we have have any problem with dates or times, he has always been willing to help me and find another solution for me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that this is not helping me very much because my work is not very related with maths for example. It's true that it's related with english but i think the English we've practice in the virtual platform and the exams wasn't enough for the level i used to have.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • PRET has a lot events. Every last Friday at the end of the month you can go for drinks with all the team and different people from other PRET shops. I'm living in Manchester, so this kind of events are not for us... I'd like they do more parties!!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pret to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's well paid, it's entertaining, it has really good conditions, you can learn a lot of things... I think it's one of the best companies in hospitality. Also teams usually are full of good people and good atmosphere and when you're working more than 40 hours a week with this people, believe me, that's important.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pret?
  • Try to soak up as much as you can in your training day, show interest for everything they're saying, show that you're a hard working person , be nice with everyone around and be yourself. I don't think there's anything else I can add to this question to be honest. Those are my tips :)
