My role as cost accountant covers doing the weekly profit & loss estimate, this is in order to have a good indication of expected profit for the period accounts. I also maintain our costing model, ensuring accurate costs to the customer. I also carry out any cost validation that is necessary to ensure relevant costings for us, and the customer.
Absolutely, in my 6.5 years at Hilton Foods UK Ltd I carried out an AAT apprenticeship via First Intuition where I learnt invaluable soft skills to add to my technical skills that I gained. I've developed my professionalism, my accounting knowledge, teamwork skills and much more. My confidence has built as I've learned more and therefore have become more competent at my job.
I really enjoy my programme, I have all the necessary study material to learn the syllabus to a good enough standard to get through the exams. I also know I have the support of the tutors if required. The tutors are engaging and the lessons generally interactive so I enjoy study days.
I believe very, the teaching is methodical and we cover all of the study material. The tutors appear very knowledgeable about the structure of the exam so provide valuable insight on how to best revise in preparation for exams. I feel as though we have adequate time to cover the material, do practice questions and exams.
A decent level of support as I'm given the time to attend classes during the working week, I am also allowed to study at work if I have spare time so they give me the necessary time and resource to ensure the best possible chance of me succeeding in my studies.
A huge amount of support in the sense they provide all of the material I require, but alongside that they offer us to contact them at any point if we are unsure about something so I know if I needed guidance there would be someone from First Intuition to help me.
I think my qualification has been paramount to my success within my role. The technical knowledge has helped me be better at my job as i'm more aware of accountancy practice. The other skills I've learned via skills days / being in the classroom has helped build me confidence making me a more rounded employee.
Generally, no. However, I don't believe they would be adverse people creating such groups if we wanted. 15 of us recently took part in a rat race event, which was for team building. We do have an annual firework night but is more of a staff function as opposed to extra-curricula activities.
Yes
They have provided me opportunity to develop skills that will make me an invaluable member of the team and investing in me means I am confident I can progress in my career. They have given me time & resource to improve as an employee, and generally made my work experience a good one.
There is a culture within the business that works for most, but not all. We are very team spirited so it's vital that anyone wanting to work for Hilton Foods UK does so with enthusiasm and a willingness to help achieve the company goals. If you show your commitment to Hilton, they will generally help you progress your career.
