I am a team member that works in hospitality. I serve customers, covers and help them. Help them to pay for and receive their orders. I also make coffees, monitoring and restocking when needed coffee and cup supply’s. A main part of my job is opening the store everyday. This involves putting away parts of the delivery and setting up the coffee area for the barista.
Yes. I have learned to make coffees in a to a high standard and to be consistent with them by weighing the coffees and checking the temperatures of the milk steamed. I have also undergone number of online and one to one training where you learn to deal with different types of customers.
I think I enjoy it most when I am able to see the progress that I am making. Before starting this job I knew nothing about marking coffees and know I feel confident enough to inform customers and make coffee unsupervised. The trips to see our suppliers we’re the best and I would highly recommend this to do for anyone on the our course
It’s very well organised. You have a tutor that gives you one - one support constantly. I do feel like an equal member of staff even though I’m an apprentice. The tutors seem to know everything about the course and respond to emails quickly and at times my even chase up with a phone call just to make sure you know what’s expected of you
The support from my employer is excellent! I have allocated study hours which are classed as paid work on the course. There are course leaders who introduced us to the apprentice which made it easer to integrate with peers and team members. They are also easy to contact and speak to. I feel I can ask them any question without feeling like it’s a dumb one.
Training provider is excellent!! They are able to meet at times that suit use and work around our working hours. The online resources they have have helped me to pass a few tests and offer relevant training on all aspects of my job. I often go back to the online resources to refresh my mind on certain business practices.
I think the training has helped me have a much better understanding of the hospitality sector as a whole and niche areas to. This has made more confident when doing my job but given me an insight into what to look out for when doing my job for things like bad behaviours and how to be an outstanding employee.
There has been one social event. But I think they are aiming to have more.
Yes
The company really does look after their staff no matter what level you are at. The apprenticing is very well resources in terms of support with tutors and payed study time. Also for me I don’t see it as they are just looking for the best people that fix their requirements. They are willing to take anyone and invest in, and train up to a standard that is beneficial to the individual and the company.
Don’t hold back and when things are getting to you or your finding the job and course overwhelming speak to your tutor or someone leading the course. There perspective and experience can really help you overcome what ever the obstacles your facing and not just at work but also with your personal life if you feel comfortable enough to.
