  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my role I make and cook various products such as brioche, macaroni and croissants. I must not only ensure that these are to brand standard, but also that avalibility is kept up at all times. Furthermore I must record what products are being made when and their temperatures to ensure that they are safe for consumption. I also train new team members in my role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt more about teamwork and time management as well as improving my 'forward thinking' skills. My confidence is also through the roof since beginning at Pret

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is super enjoyable and is done at a steady pace so that it dosent conflict with your work commitments. Trainers are super friendly and actually care about you and what you have to say. The fully paid training days are informative and its always enjoyable to hang out with the other apprentices.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think that the programme is well structured however having the work you need to do maybe set imbetween meetings a bit clearer would be helpful. Other than that time scale and deadlines are easy to meet and everything is done at your own pace to ensure that you are happy.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve good support from my employer. They allow me time off when Im working to participate in my apprenticeship meetings, allow me access to resources that help with work and pay me in full for travel and time spent on days out. My only criticism would be counting my training days as days off.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Loads. My providers are patient and understanding, willing to put up with my 'tangents' when I get distracted, worked up or excited about something before gently steering me back on topic. They allow loads of time for me to complete my work and help when Im confused. They also ensure that I know that if I ever need help or advice they're only a text message away.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have background or outside knowledge through my training that some other members of my team dont necessarily have. My trainers also help me to apply knowledge from other aspects of both our lives to my work in order to make me more efficient or introduce new ways to do things.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pret to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Pret A Manger pays really well, especially for an apprenticeship. Staff are friendly and usually get along really well. Free food and coffee on the job with a 50% discount when not working are also a decent bonus. Pret nights out are also fantastic, when Pret pays for your drinks for a night and you get to watch your supervisor "let loose" for once.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pret?
  • Qualifications don't matter, your personality dose. Dont bother if youre not willing to work with other people, you'll get absolutely nowhere. Its also a surprisingly tough job so dont go into it thinking you're taking the easy street. Finally, use my code 02149457 when you apply for the "Refer a Friend" thing.
