I am training as an iOS Software developer, whilst working on coding new features for Barclays' Banking app.
Prior to my apprenticeship I had no coding experience what so ever. Whereas now, 1 year in, I am able to read and write code to a reasonable standard.
I am enjoying that I am learning a new skill, and love the work place environment where I am doing so. Everyone I work with is friendly, and helpful towards my development, to the point that I enjoy coming to work each day.
Very well structured. There are times where I find university and work deadlines challenging, as the 2 can conflict. Sometimes however, it feels that some separate apprentice objectives that are set are pointless towards my job role development, and get in the way of more important objectives.
I get the right amount of support needed to help my growth. If ever I feel like I need more support, I don't feel that I wouldn't get it if I requested it.
I get the right amount of support from my training provider. If ever I require additional support, I only have to email my tutors, and often they are very fast to get back to me. I also gain additional support from a tutor that comes to the workplace.
The technical elements of the course further develop my background knowledge which are useful to know at times in my job role, even though the course doesn't have a direct link to my job role.
Not strictly, but we have an on site gym which I go to on a daily basis.
Yes
Barclays gives a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, whilst earning a competitive salary for an apprenticeship. The working environment is fantastic and makes me feel very comfortable.
Put as much effort as possible into the application and assessment, as the outcome is worth it if you're successful. My only regret is not applying for an apprenticeship at Barclays sooner.
