Apprentice Review

My role is to follow and shadow technicians that are trained on the railways and learn what I can from them and record it in a logbook, I feel that it can be interesting as I am always visiting different parts of the railways and I get given a lot of time to work on my college side of things

I have definitely developed my skills in working in a team with others, I have gained massive trust with the people I work with as my life is potentially in their hands. As well as this I am also getting better at fault finding and replacing parts and component s

I reckon my programme is one of the best out there, for what I do I get paid well and I have and exciting future. Although my job is very importAnt and it is necessary I stay safe it can also be fun and exciting as well as challenging and cool

My programme is very crammed however I do prefer this as it means I will be qualified sooner which means my money will go up and I Will also get promotions more likely and sooner on in my career. I feel that it is intense however if you are organised you’ll be fine

I am organised however I still struggle to juggle some of the work because it is so intense. My employer deal with this by giving me good amounts of support including breaking down my work and extending some of my deadlines in busy periods I also get support with any thing I am unsure about

my qualification is important and it gives me a good understanding with what I am supposed to do and how I am supposed to behave. Since the start of my scheme I have got better at carrying out tasks correctly and completing them safely I have also been better when working in small confined places

At network rail there are so many different good options for us to get involved with events outside of working hours. It is such a large organisation with so many different people from different backgrounds and there is a chance for a lot of us to meet and get together

I would recommend because.. firstly the job is enjoyable as well as working for a steady company that is always going to provide work. There is also great benefits including a good pension scheme and a good way to get out there and complete a well recognised qualification at the same time as earning a good salary

When applying it’s important to get a good first impression. This starts with your cv and I would recommend also practicing for the assessments they give you which can be done online I feel that they look look for organised and ambitious people that are focused towards their work
