Developing and implementing strategic marketing plans across the group. Working with cross functional teams on a wide range of projects and initiatives to create a customer centered business. Being the central point of contact for divisional marketing teams and liaising with Operational, Finance, IT and other functions across the group.
The course has helped me develop existing skills, including leadership styles, motivation, budgeting, strategy and innovation. It was particularly useful in building on my existing project management skills, including new methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum. This has been very useful within my job role, and I also gained a professionally recognised qualification.
I enjoyed a number of aspects of the course. The workshops were on the whole very interesting, particularly the ethics and integrity discussions. The assignments were generally interesting to research. But there were elements that were not enjoyable, such as the vast amount of admin that went with the portfolio.
The workshops themselves were generally well structured, but there were definite improvements that could be made. scheduling was tricky due to the large number of people doing the course at the same time. But this was unavoidable. There were teething problems with the process for building our portfolio, and this meant there was a bit of duplication of effort. Also, the internal QA forms and templates were far from optimal, and could benefit from a review and revamp.
My employer was extremely supportive and allowed a great degree of flexibility for studying and workshops. I can't fault them!
My Skills coach was fantastic, very knowledgeable on the subject matter and the processes. She was extremely supportive to all of her students. However, the general QA study material/systems were not a great standard, and could benefit from a review.
There are definitely aspects of the qualification that I am using frequently. Such as the project management skills, and general leadership. My overall awareness of internal and external commercial influences has also increased.
Yes, there are regular social trips, and occasional company wide benefits such as BBQs, summer parties, Christmas parties, strategy events and off-site meetings.
