My role is to help with the running of the store, with training and leading the team. My role consists of stock management, people management, health and safety and company polices being followed. Communicating information from head offices in regards to the company and other important information in regards to the team.
Throughout my apprenticeship I have learnt new methods of learning and techniques with skills, and will be starting to develop my skills. I have learnt how to do more tasks within my store such as store counts and EEC conversations with performance conversations with team members. And starting to develop my skills in leadership.
From my first meeting, to having a coffee meet with my trainer, to my first session, has been very enjoyable. I have a great understanding of the course and what it involves, it has been explained to myself fully and in detail and being shown new skills and techniques to use in store.
My programme is very structured to a 12 month completion time, where I receive monthly meets to discuss the course and the work I have completed and reviewed, ready to move onto the next module. It is very organised of each month there is a module which is broken down into manageable chunks.
My line manager gives me a lot of support of going through new skills and tasks and my day to day role to help improve myself, and gives me a lot of his time to discuss things and helps get the evidence needed for the course through work materials and reports.
So far I have had only one visit as just started the course. However within that first visit, he was very supportive of going through the work I have done and my understanding of the course. He has given myself lots of information in regards to the end assessment of where I will be heading throughout the course
My qualification will help my performance in store with my leadership with the team and help myself improve and motivate the team to be there best selves. Also my personal development to improve myself with leading the team. It is given myself a lot of information to work and develop
I am unsure of what extra- curricular activities to get involved, however there is activities that we get involved in for charity week and raising money for charity. Social activities we organise in store, as well as a Christmas social event for each area to get together and show recognition.
Yes
As Iceland is a good company to work for, my perks and benefits, and they look after your well being. Many incentives and such a friendly place to work. I would recommend a friend to also shop in Iceland as we have real quality food at decent prices. And the company is doing a lot of good for the environment.
I would advice them to be prepared for hard work in regards to customer service, be friendly and happy as the work environment is fantastic. Interview be confident, application be honest and truthful, there are many opportunities to progress, there are events for talent and progression, and that they would most likely enjoy it.
