We began collecting our laptop, then we received an technology induction and got a tour around the office. First of all we were shown a presentation about our service line (assurance), introducing us to what we would be doing for the week. Throughout the week we have completed various tasks in audit, met new people, learned more about careers and EY as a whole. Alongside the full process we have completed a journal to track progress and movement towards completing goals which were laid out on day one. Overall it was a great week and I have learned a lot.
We completed tasks under the guidance of various others who showed us what to do, but also allowed us to work independently so we could learn for ourselves. I have developed communication skills by talking to various members of the team about both work and life at EY. I feel I have had a great week and learned a lot of new skills.
I have had a great time during my week at EY, meeting new people, learning new skills and gaining information on what is available for me to do in the future. Everybody has been very friendly which has made my experience even better and I have enjoyed seeing what the working world is like.
My work experience was very organised, everything was ready when I arrived and was immediately set off learning how to use my laptop. I have always had something to all week and the organisation has made my experience run very smoothly. Having my events pre booked onto my calendar made it easy to see what I was doing aswell.
I learned a lot about company culture, everyone has been very friendly and made me feel very welcome which I have felt is something which would make it very enjoyable to work at EY. I think everybody here works hard but also is sociable so its a great atmosphere to work in.
My work experience has made me consider my options a lot more in the future as I have been exposed to the apprenticeship opportunities whereas prior to this I was very much set on university. Alternative paths to university are appealing however at the moment I am not sure what career path I would like exactly.
Yes I was paid £6.15 per hour for the week which is just an added bonus for the work experience to get paid aswell for your weeks work. I wasn't expecting to until I received my contract as I thought generally it was unpaid for your work experience.
Yes every day I met new people who all have different stories and different paths to where they are in their career at the moment and this was very interesting to find out and hear, because meeting these new people from different areas and backgrounds showed the real diversity in the group of people I was working with.
Yes
It has been a great experience to work here, and everybody I have met has been really friendly and welcoming so its been lovely place to work. I have also gained skills and knowledge about this field that I wouldn't have if I hadn't partaken in this week and will help me going forward.
I would say, just be yourself and try to answer any questions you get as thoroughly as you can and give detailed responses. I think it is important to always tell the truth aswell and try to think about questions logically before rushing into giving any answers which may not be right.
