  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I learned more about what the international tax department does and the kind of work they get involved in. I learned how to use more advanced features in Excel and got some practical experience in some projects.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my week at EY. It was extremely interesting to see what a tax department does as it's very specialised and not many people know what happens in it.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The work experience structure was mostly organised. There were around 65 people in the UK doing it and there were group meetings for introductions and other information. The rest was based on what you wanted to get out of the work experience and what your buddy planned.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learned a lot of the company culture during the week, especially when I was talking to my buddy and other members of the team. Working hours tend to be flexible and the office environment is quite relaxed.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • The work experience helped to see whether I was suitable for a career in the big four and I found that I quite enjoyed it. It has really helped in deciding if this is the career path I will choose, but that's because I am still exploring.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was paid around £6.15 per hour for the work experience and I worked for 30 hours throughout the week. This is quite a good salary for the age of 17.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were lots of opportunities to network and meet new people. I worked with a lot of the team members and I was able to talk to other teams within the office.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend EY as all of my experiences have been positive and there isn't much to complain about.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Always be prepared to come across things that you have not done before as there is a fair bit of new terminology that the different service lines use. Always ask lots of questions to understand what to do.
