  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • My work experience involved editing documents , sending emails , attending presentations with my buddy ( who is someone who joined as an apprentice). I also had to lead a discussion with a senior member of staff. My discussion was about the current most exciting technological advancement. I also had the opportunity to meet other people doing the same work experience which was good.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I learnt a lot about presentation skills especially for a wider audience and for clients as well which is useful. I also learnt how to use various tabs on excel that I didn't even know existed! EY also gave us the opportunity to work on personal branding which was also interesting. The main thing I learnt was networking!

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I enjoyed it quite a lot as it shows you how practical the working world is compared to school which is very practical. I also enjoyed having a beautiful view from the building which was very nice. I would say that the organisation was not the best but it was a great experience.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The induction was very well organised as we were all shown around the building and we were made aware of all the health and safety at EY. The Skype daily tasks were organised in advance but the individual tasks were set so I was not sure what I was doing each day which you could say is spontaneous. There was very good support as you are given a counsellor.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I do think I would fit in very well if I joined EY. Although it is a big firm they have many societies and networks where you can meet various people .They also have really nice focus booths where you can go to concentrate to do work as accurately and efficiently as possible. There is also a lot of diversity and everyone here is so nice.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • It gave me the opportunity of knowing what it is like to work in a corporate environment. It also gave me the experience to talk to people with various backgrounds where they are apprentices or graduates. The graduates here actually have degrees in various fields therefore people have various thoughts in group discussions. This week I have learnt that I would probably like to work here after I graduate. I will also like to intern whilst I am at university

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • Yes you get paid to actually work at EY for a week for around £7 an hour which is really good considering the minimum wage is a lot less. They don't reimburse for travel costs but they treat you to free lunch at restaurants of your choice! I also think they choose locations that are close to you. If you live more than an hour away from the location you can't apply.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were times where I attended meetings with various members of staff. There are networking opportuties and company events but there was non during the week I interned. I still had the chance to meet many people. The company does offer many activities which is useful for many people especially if they are new.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a good opportunity to know whether you want to apply to go to university or do an apprenticeship. You also have the opportunity to meet many people who could advice you on certain career topics. I would say that it is also a chance to know if a office job is what you want to be apart of or not.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • I would say you should follow the steps below: 1. Really try hard during the online assesments as 1000's of people apply but only a few are selected. 2. Do some reading about what EY do before applying you should also take the quiz on the website on if EY is right for you as it can give you an insight on what service line is best for you. 3. Ensure your confident with numbers as there maybe some assessments where numerical skills are needed
