The work experience involved learning about emerging technologies and how they are implemented in our everyday lives. We also worked on a solution to a problem of our choice and designed and internet of things for our problem. At the end of the week we presented our solution to a panel of dragons.
I learnt how to collaborate with people from various backgrounds on a project using a variety of technology to find the solution to a problem from scratch. I learnt how to collaborate with people through technology and use a standard work frame to plan and execute tasks. I also learnt how to ask deep and meaningful questions.
I really enjoyed the experience as it has opened me up to experiences that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten. I enjoyed learning how the company has began to incorporate technology into its business and the future of PwC's technology department. I would really enjoy coming back in the future to get hands on with their departments.
The work experience was very well organised. we visited the university of Birmingham and had a guided tour of the campus with train tickets paid for us. We were also catered for and the days had a good balance of work and rest. Overall, the organisation of the programme was very good
I learnt a lot about the company and their ventures into technology. I enjoyed meeting employees and seeing the way in which they work and collaborate. I like how there is a relaxed dress code and everyone appears to be ready to help one another. There are regular fun days and the company seems to be very friendly.
The work experience has made me consider what sort of path I want to take after sixth form. The degree apprenticeship opportunity in computer science is a massive opportunity and has made me really consider whether or not I want to go down the technology path instead of what I want to do right now.
I was payed for the experience at the end of the week. Travel costs were not reimbursed but there was little hassle in getting to the office so travel expenses were not a big concern. We were catered on two of the days which did mean I didn't have to go and buy my own lunch
Yes there were opportunities. All of our sessions were delivered by different employees who we got to know quite well. we learnt about their background and how they got to work for the company. We didn't attend any meetings but the the staff were very open and willing to help ease us in.
Yes
PwC offers work in almost every sector from Law to accounting. I know many people who are considering careers in a lot of the services that PwC has to offer. It is also a great environment that i believe anyone would be comfortable in as they have a support and care team for a range of employee problems
Make sure that if you are going to apply to PwC that you are willing and ready to work with others as pretty much all of the work they do requires collaboration and communication. Also do research into the company and their background as it puts you in a better position when it comes to applying
