It involved learning about different technology and implementing it into our project which was based on finding a problem present in everyday life and creating a solution based on the internet of things. We then had to create a presentation to the rest of the groups.
We developed teamwork and communication skills as each member had to effectively convey our findings to the rest of the group. We also had to overcome any minor disagreements and come to a decision as a group. I also was able to work on my confidence and presentation skills.
I really enjoyed it as i was constantly learning about different technologies and their implications in the real world. We were also given plenty of time to use our newfound knowledge to implement into our own projects. However the experience could have been made more enjoyable by being more interactive.
It was very organised as each day had a set number of sessions with people who had experience in that area. We were then able to use the information collated that day and implement it within our own project to enhance the user experience and create the best possible product.
I learned about the professionalism yet flexibility within PwC which creates a relaxed atmosphere and approach. I also learned about the social aspect within PwC which helps create a community. This makes the company a lot more desirable as I can see myself working in this company. The company values also are inclusive.
The work experience helped me consider all the different avenues into accounting. However, it showed a different side to professional services with the use of technology to solve client problems. The flying start degrees and apprenticeships provide a faster route into such an industry. It also provided a greater insight into the roles of someone working in technology.
Every morning we would have to make our own way there, however when we went to University of Birmingham we were provided with train tickets meaning we didn't have to pay. For meal costs, we were provided with meals on the first day and on the last day and the rest we had to have our own arrangements.
Yes, the activities would have employees working in that specific area of tech allowing for greater insight into their jobs. this allowed me to decide whether those specific jobs were right for me and whether i would enjoy going into that role. By meeting different people on apprenticeships it allowed ooportunity for questions.
Yes
because it was an enjoyable experience which allowed for greater insight into different tech roles available at pwc. it also allowed me to answer any questions i had and determine whether this was a right decision and career choice for me especially going into year 13 and making important choices.
i would suggest to them to work on different skills, and really be themself on assessment day. by being relaxed and calm they will effectively be able to work in a group and get their points across. they should also not be overbearing and allow everyone to have a chance to speak.
