My job title is Claims and Credits Apprentice. Within my role i am responsable for deciding whether to reject and accept claims for short shipment and warranty from retailers, Enter data into spreadsheets, Deal with retailer inquires, Input orders, and also Invoicing for Renault keys.
I have learnt many new skills as well as developing exsiting ones. I have build my confidence and am able to speak to new people via any form of information. The qulifications i will gain this year are NVQ, CMI, level 3 Business adimin. within the next 4 years i will also gain an HNC and also HND. As well as this is have developed my excel skills so am more knowledgable on how to use excel. Personally i have been able to progress by becoming an Apprentice ambassdor, found a career path and found out what its really like to work for a business.
I really enjoy being an apprentice for Vauxhall im even motivated to get up early every morning for my role. I have an amazing department that made me feel very welcome as well as making me enjoy work. The other apprentices in my year have now become some very good friends therefore there is a social side to being an apprentice.
I feel very valued the reason for this is because im respected like any other team member but as well as this i have real responsibilites. My manager relies on me to do my work in order to meet targets. As well as this im there to support my team in any way that they need.
I feel like it has been well organised and theres a lot of stucture you always know what you need to do. This is done by planning a head for meetings and having a good support team. There was a 2 week induction at the begining so we got to know the back ground of the company well. The handover was done well so that I knew exactly what my role entailed.
We have meeting often to talk about any issue if there is any but i also have there phone number and email if i need to tell them before hand. I aslo have a mentor that i can go to if i need any help. They also are happy to help and dont make you feel like a pain.
i have recieved lots of support from the HR team, my manager and my department. They are always will to help me and they want me to succeed.
The salary at Vauxhall is really good. It doesnt put you out so you dont have to miss out on things with your friends. It aslo helps with the travel cost for having to get to and from work and college.
There are many oppertunites out of work like going to schools to promote apprenticeships, The Brathway challenge which will all look really good on your CV. There is a charity sleep out to help rasie money for homeless children. You can join the vauxhall gym at a discount.
Yes
Its an amazing opportunity. Helps you to decide your career path as there are rotations for different departments.Huge responsibility for the whole 4 years. Earn while you learn.Builds skills and confidence. It is a proper job if they didnt have you they would employ someone with skills. Learn what its like to work for a company and also make new friends.
My advice is to do your research so you know as much as you can. Don’t follow the crowd just because your friends are going to uni doesnt mean you have to you need to think about what's best for you. Always start looking early i applied around may time.
