My role involves completing various reports to analyse how well Vauxhall accessories are selling. Moreover, I have to create RPG's for different vehicles as well as answering random accessories related queries.
Since I have started my apprenticeship I have gained a large array of new skills. An example of this is my excel skills. When I started I was extremely unfamiliar with excel and therefore was quite slow however, since I use the programme every day I have developed. Additionally, my communication and presenting skills have improved as I took part in an ambassador training.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship as it exceeded the standards of what I expected. Before I started, I expected the apprenticeship to involve typical stereotypical apprentice roles like making coffee, however we are given real roles with real responsibilities. Moreover, the fact that every year we get to switch roles is really exciting and is something I love about the apprenticeship.
I feel as though I am a valued member of the team at Vauxhall, especially within after sales. I'm trusted with real jobs and am encouraged by loads of other employees to get involved in their departments so i have a greater understanding of the business. I'm treated as an equal and not as a child.
The programme is well organised.
I received a lot of support from my manager and all my colleagues. They are always there and happy to help.
An adequate amount.
The salary is much more than many other apprentices get and is enough to cover my costs.
Yes, there is always the chance to get involved in the social side at Vauxhall. For example, during the Christmas period I am taking part in a sleep out to raise money for charity.
Yes
In my opinion, it is more beneficial than going to university as it gives you the experience as well as the qualifications. Moreover, the fact that you earn while you learn is very desirable.
I would advise other applicants to research into the apprenticeship before applying and make sure it is right for them. Moreover, if they get an interview they should be confident but more importantly just be themselves.
