A means to enter the PwC in the actuarial department, aiding the pension actuaries on benchmarking banks' pension schemes, helping to present data for current deals with BT and working with other students in other lines of service to present on a topic over the week
Mostly technical skills such as working in excel and powerpoint, but also intaking knowledge of the world of Actuary with current deals.
It was mostly enjoyable, the workforce was kind and incredibly cooperative. Perhaps a bit slowed down at times, but overall, an amazing opportunity to experience work culture and to begin networking with current employees.
A bit rocky with the preliminary application as it was never clear as to if I had completed all my forms, requiring me to chase up with the recruiting team. My buddy was also inconveniently on study leave and that left me with little to do sometimes
There were many opportunities - from speaking to the current employes to learning more about the volunteering and community work PwC does as a firm.
I'm still very unsure if PwC is the potential career path for me, but the work I have undertaken has given me an insight into what I should expect from a typical office job.
Paid at a generous rate
Yes, but some cases you needed to be more proactive, but that is a good skill to practise
Yes
It is well paid, a good work experience into the insight of the firm, being able to learn more specifically about a line of service.
Be proactive and open minded, if you simply sit around waiting, little opportunities will come from the week.
