Each day, I got to meet people from the different service lines to find out what they do. For example, I was in Deals on Tuesday, Tax on Wednesday & Assurance on Thursday. Monday was an induction day (we set up up laptops and learnt about the programmes we can apply to after school/university briefly) and on Friday, we did presentations in groups about a topic to develop our presentation skills.
Networking skills as there was lots of employees to meet. Communication skills as we were put into groups with other people doing the programme.
I really enjoyed it because I actually learnt about what PwC does rather than just knowing they're a 'professional services firm'. However, I didn't get the chance to go on a client site (which some people did).
Very well because there was a rota of what you were doing each day and, even if your 'buddy' was ill, they would put you with someone else and you still learnt a lot.
I learnt a bit but there was some contradiction e.g. some people said their working hours were flexible whereas some people said it wasn't at all.
I am pretty sure I want to start my career at PwC because they help you get all relevant qualifications you need to progress. There is also so many different paths you can go through once you have a job here.
Yes, we were paid £9.34 hourly for around 8 hours a day for 5 days. However, we had to pay for travel ourselves unless we lived more than 1 and a half hours away.
Yes, when we went into each service line, we could talk to our host for the day and the people in their teams. There was also some directors and partners who were called in and so we could speak to them.
Yes
Overall, I learnt a lot which is what I came for. I now know I want a career at PwC and how I can get there to some extent. I would have still done this placement if it was unpaid because of the experience I got. The pay was a bonus.
The application process is extremely long and hard (there are games that they judge you on and more assessments) but if you manage to get in, it's worth it.
