Getting involved with different aspects of the business, whether that's Audit, Taxation, Consulting or Deals. We shadowed different professionals at all levels and in different sectors to get an insight into the world of PwC and the working environment. We also had talks on different pathways into the company and he opportunities available to us.
I learnt how to develop my time management skills, communication skills and also my problem solving skills during the week. It was also very useful to increase my business acumen in the sense that I got well informed on the different aspects to the business and how to solve business problems, especially during my time in consulting.
I really enjoyed my work experience. PwC is an amazing company to be associated with and the environment that they have there is brilliant. Everyone is willing to talk to you and give you their experience and advice on how to move forward in the future not just with the company but outside the company too.
My experience was very well organized. We shadowed people from all parts of the business in a structured way to let us get the most out of our time there. And, by giving us a group project to do along side shadowing, there was always something to do and you were never bored.
I learnt an unbelievable amount about the company’s culture. PwC do really focus on their environment and it is obvious how important that part of the business is to them as a firm. During the week I felt like a fully immersed member of the company and it was great to have that feeling even just after one week. Everyone is so friendly and ready to help you, no matter their title or role.
It helped a lot; it made me realise that maybe University isn’t the only option to get intro the sector that I ultimately want to. And that there are so many different pathways available to me to join to get my career on track however soon I want that to be. Defiantly very insightful
Yes I was paid, and I was very amazed with the amount of money that we were paid too. It is obvious that PwC do care for all of their employees from all levels. It was a very good wage. You had the option to be reimbursed if you journey was very long, for example if you had to leave your house before 6 to reach the office for 9 they would offer travel and stay close to the office. However, my travel wasn’t paid.
Yes, the shadowing meant that we were exposed to many people in the business; also we were encouraged to connect with the people we interacted with to start building our network. Everyone that I met was very open to connect with us to help us build our network and to offer us advice.
Yes
Because they really do care about their human capital and value the development of their people. There are always opportunities to progress further with the company, no matter of your educational background. And also the weight of having the name PwC in your CV is large and looks very good. Employers know what a good company PwC is and the value this. An amazing company!
Be yourself and act how you would normally do. PwC are looking for humility and a thirst for progression. They want to find good people, the best way for that to be you is to just be yourself. Also, be ready to be mentally challenged, they will test you not just academically but also you as a person (for example your values and what you would do in certain situations).
