I was working alongside many members of the data and analytics team to provide bespoke solutions to many different types of clients across many different industries. It involved using many technical skills and required good communication between all levels of the company to provide clients with the best service possible.
I have learnt many different skills across many different lines of services. I have used many technical skills such as programming in Python, R, SQL and using many data visualisation tools such as Power BI. This at times can be challenging but there was always support to help overcome any difficulties.
I have really enjoyed my time on my apprenticeship so far and have learnt so much in such a short space of time. It has been extremely varied and their is always the opportunity to try new things and learn new skills in such a variety of industries and lines of services.
The programme could be organised better, however, with it being the first year of the programme it obviously has teething problems. The breadth of courses at university is fairly limited without much choice, however, the types of work you do while on placement more than makes up for this downside.
I receive lots of support from my employer with lots of people who can support in many different areas whether it be questions about the programme, mental support, physical support and many different benefits along the way. If there were ever any problems I'm sure that my employer would be able to support me the best way they can.
While at university you are just the same as any other student. The teaching staff are always great and give great help whenever it is needed and my personal tutor is always very prompt to provide help where possible. I've heard that mental health response is quite limited, but I have never had to use it.
I feel that the courses at university are not particularly suited towards the types of work that we have to undertake whilst on placement. Perhaps as we advance through the years this will change but I feel I have learnt more on the job than using the skills and knowledge I have gained at university.
Yes, the networking at PwC is great and there is always something you can get involved in. We get the opportunity to meet and network with students on the programme from other universities as well as interact with people from all levels of the firm. We often get invited to social events to make us feel more like part of the team and integrate better into work life.
Yes
PwC have great opportunities for people on the degree programme to learn new technical skills as well as the soft skills which are essential to the world of work. Not only this but PwC is nothing without its people so they really want everyone to succeed at what they excel in while learning new skills to better themselves.
Always be yourself and try to learn as much about the topics that interest you. As long as you are willing to push yourself and learn new skills then you will be well suited to the programmes as well as the company. Always ask questions to show that you have an interest in the work, but not just to people around your work level but with all levels in the firm.
