I am currently a Training Assistant working in the Learning and Development Department. My daily job role is to co-ordinate the company induction, management training programmes and online management portal. My day to day tasks consist of booking venues with external providers as well as booking training through external providers. A project I am currently working on is putting 800 peope through a half day safety training course before the end of Janaury.
When I joined the company, I was working towards my NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration. Once this was completed, I was given more responsibilities and am currently working towards a Foundation CIPD Level 3 in L&D Practice. I have become more confident over my time with the company and have gained both personal and professional skills.
I really enjoy my programme at the moment because it can be used in my day to day role. I work withing a good team of people who has an understanding of what I am trying to achieve.
Costain Ltd have invested a lot of money in me during my two years with them so far. The fact they are willing ot invest their money makes me feel extemely valued. I am now being brought into high profile meetings etc. to further my learning.
My programme is very well structured. I have one workshop a month and then can take up to 2-3 study days throughout the month as long as my day job is completed.
We have a portal where I can speak to my facilitator at any time I see fit. we also have a mobile number to contact him on.
My employer allows me sufficient study time as well as picking and choosing the projects I am working on to suit the current module I am learning. If i have any issues with anything, I have plenty of people I can talk to.
I am on a pay structure which has the options to rise twice a year depending on performance. Overall I feel I am earning about right for my level.
We have a few leadership events that I often help out at. This is good as I can interact with colleagues that I do not normally see. We are allowed up to two days extra annual leave a year for volunteering purposes. I currently play semi professional ice hockey so spend a lot of my time outside of work doing that.
Yes
They support and listen to any need I may have. They have invested time and resources in me.
