I had met many workers at the firm, ranging from apprentices and trainees, to associates and partners. We had participated in mock trials and had helped out many workers at the firm. I had helped one of the partners draft up a POA, as well as a Minute. I had also attended conference calls and presentations
Communication skills were highly developed whilst working at the firm. Everyday i had to meet a new member at the firm, introduce myself to them, and help them out in any of their duties. Organisation was also another key skill that I had improved on. The role had required me to consistently be upto date with my timetable and emails.
It was very enjoyable. Whilst there were some things that could have helped improve the work experience placement, such as being paired up with a buddy who is also a work experience student, on the whole, I had great fun. Not only did i meet new people, I made new friends along the way
The work place was highly organised and relaxed. The company provided a timetable to all the students with tasks to do. We were all asigned with emails, in which we had accessibility to not only contact employees of the firm, but also work experience students. It was a key role in providing us with work
I never realised how quiet but busy the workplace can be. Everyone was always working with little time to spare. Most employees were at their work for 12 hours a day, which was highly daunting to me. Nonetheless, it was a busy and time-consuming environment which I enjoy/
I had always wanted to become a solicitor, and work at a law firm, but I had not decided which area to get into. This programme has allowed me to learn that corporate law seems the most enjoyable to me, even though it does seem like the hardest division of them all.
No, I was not paid or reimbursed for the experience. It would have been nice to have been paid for, but I believe that then it would not of allowed me to be as relaxed as I was. Luckily for me, I lived fairly close to the firm, so I was able to take the bus, costing me nothing
Yes, every day I met a new employee of the firm. Not only would I network to trainees over there, who had just begun working for the firm, but also to partners who had been with the firm for multiple years. It was really informative and a highly enjoyable experience
Yes
The programme allowed me to gather a great and wide insight into the work life. Whilst it was highly tiring and taxing on the body and brain, it was worth every single minute. I would gladly do it all over again. Fun, enjoyable and informative! The place is such a great environment
Communicate and chat with as many people possible. Leave a great and memorable impression on the workers there, and then they will be able to help you out in the future. Follow them on LinkedIn and keep in touch with them every once in a while. Do not be afraid to take any opportunity!
