I'm responsible for the definition of strategy, design and deployment of technologies that enable the business to evolve into a digitally focused enterprise, in line with the wants and needs of it's current and future customers.
I have learnt how to engage with senior leadership to inform and advise on decisions being made with regards to network technologies, vendor selection and future trends in IT. I've also become more mature in my approach to problem management and prioritisation of my workload, becoming a more efficient and productive engineer.
Although only in my first year, i'm enjoying the apprenticeship immensely.
After some initial teething problems, the apprenticeship has been well organised and constant contact maintained.
The level of support provided by Pearson has been fantastic, both at the immediate (line manager) and higher (organisation) level.
OU have been wonderful, my tutors have been both knowledgeable and understanding, and their web portal is easy to use and provides realtime updates on progress and current status, with easy access to course materials.
My course has already delivered benefits, allowing me to take a more active role in the development of automated services and functions within my team.
There are, although with a young family at home i've taken less advantage of these than I would perhaps have liked to.
