My work experience involved helping out with the department preparations- the everday admin and organising lessons and reviews. Sitting in on what people were delivering and assisting is some of these sessions. I also attended various department meetings, which was very insightful and I got to work with lots of different people.
I learnt a lot about what the admin side of the department that I had no idea was going on in the background- all the preparations and planning that took place and the number of people involved in this. I did not gain any particular qualifications, but feel it will be very valuable for the future.
I really enjoyed my work experience in general. It was more than I had expected going in to it. There were more things that I was involved in doing that I had not though I would be able to and the team were really kind and friendly so this was great.
My work experience was very well organised- they clearly had lots of experience with people doing work experience there before. I had a good induction and tour of the place before I started and was assigned someone to team up with that I reported to and could ask any questions or problems.
I learnt a lot about what the company culture was like and what it would be like to work there in the future. I think the ethos of the company was really good and therefore I would definitely go back and work there in the future. The general atmosphere was very good.
The work experience was helpful to me for deciding my future career path as it was really useful to find out exactly how the industry works and what a job like this would entail. I think I could see myself doing something like this in the future and therefore I feel it was very beneficial.
No I was not paid for this work experience and I was not expected to be paid. The meals in the canteen were subsidised so it was very cheap to eat there. The location was close to where I live and therefore I did not really incur any major travel costs.
Yes there were lots of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. Although there were no specific networking events, I feel the meetings and general company dynamic allowed me to meet lots of people and therefore I feel I have many new contacts in the company than I did before I did this.
Yes
I think that the company is very good to work for. There are lots of different social events going on and the company really does care about your wellbeing and you having a work life balance. The atmosphere is always very positive and the people were very kind and this really makes a different in a workplace.
I think that I would advise anyone applying for a role there to look up about the company and there values and make sure that they are in line with these ideas and prepared to talk about them in an interview. Experience in the retail industry is useful although not essential.
