On a daily basis i would have a small team meeting with my boss and a couple of the supervisors. To begin with i was introduced to a lot of the members of the team. I did some basic work with product management and stock levels but for most of it i was left on my own.
i developed a few business skills, however for most of it i didn't learn too much, i just took part in basic activities and jobs which I hardly learnt anything from. The till and registers didn't need rocket science to get used too and i was quite disappointed with the little i learnt.
The work was ok, it kept me going however sometimes i found myself really bored and not doing too much and finding other people to help me with giving me jobs and little bits of work to complete so on that front it wasn't brilliant. The work i did get was ok
The start was ok as i was introduced to a few people and giving some tasks to complete during the first few days however i felt that i was forgotten about and that i needed a bit of extra guidance by my supervisor and peers so this wasn't very helpful.
I didn't learn an awful lot as previously mentioned. I did a few various jobs and tasks but nothing else was mentioned about the company or what other jobs were available and other skills i could get from being a part of the company either. I didn't ask as i had already made my mind up about the job.
It helped me definitely...but perhaps not in the 'correct' way. I realised after working there for a couple of days that it wasn't suited to my skills or a career that i wanted. I didn't mind the work and i understand that i was lucky to be given the opportunity but it was definitely not for me.
I was paid for 3 weeks work which was £150 a week. I didn't work long hours so the wages where fair for the amount of work that i did which i cannot complain about. I would have liked to have found out about other prospects but i didn't.
I met a few different peers and supervisors on my first day however nobody really came up to me and chatted. I'm quite shy and i dont tend to approach new people and strike a conversation but i did try to get to know a couple of members of staff. they were friendly however i still felt a bit left out.
No
Both yes and no. It's good experience and you find out whether the retail/supermarket industry is good for you however morrisons experience was not very nice in general, i wasn't advised or given much help or guidance so i felt that my 'experience' was lacking quite a lot.
i would say that make sure it's an experience you want and if you want to go into the supermarket industry then perhpas think about looking into other supermarkets and not just morrisons. I would advise to apply to all supermarkets in your local area and even other retail shops as well. Hopefully there will be better organised experience weeks.
