Track Engineer Apprentice in the Rail sector. Daily tasks consist of completing track maintenance operations and completing work based learning objectives. I have daily interaction with the track management team. My responsibility is to learn and complete my apprenticeship. Working on Crossrail projects and a lot of other projects scattered throughout the south of England. no day is the same but everyday i do complete a daily diary on what I have done that day.
Qualifications include GCSE's and the first year of my apprenticeship was completed in Gosport. In Gosport I learned many different things in many courses like, maths for technicians, mechanical principles, technical drawing, Network Rail Induction etc. I had a background in mechanical work so it was an okay transition over to the rail sector. I have learned how to survey and use all the different types of equipment. I have also learned how to lead a large team of people thanks to ILM which has moulded me into a manager for the future.
Really enjoyed the training. The job has exciting prospects.
I have been seconded to Keltbray Rail and have yet to work with Costain so that hard to answer. Interaction with my Costain manager makes me feel valued.
Its good and very manageable
The right amount
I have been seconded to Keltbray Rail so they support my learning.
I'm happy with it for now
I would like Costain to provide discounts on gyms etc.
Yes
Great opportunities
If you are in the rail sector you need to be confident and have a big personality otherwise i would say apply to a different sector. The quiet boys are really struggling. Costain wants managers for the future so show them that you can be.
