I am an engineering technician so I assist engineers on highways civil engineering projects. This involves me using design software such as AutoCAD to design 3D engineering solutions. I work in the highways sector but often have to work with teams from other companies/disciplines.
I have developed so much since starting in 2015 when I started my level 3 apprenticeship. This includes technical engineering knowledge and applying these in my work. I have also been given the opportunity to develop my soft skills through collaboration and also STEM events.
I enjoy my programme a lot, Motts are really good for giving me the development I need and also everyone at work is friendly and open to help when needed.
This is the first proper degree apprenticeship my office has done so we're still ironing out the creases as regards to 20% off the job training. Other than that my work and programme is well organised.
A lot, everyone is friendly and happy to help with whatever I need. There is also a lot of training being offered to me - both mandatory and optional.
Like I've said everyone is happy to help and also there is time allocated to my off the job training which I am provided with help for my course.
I feel that because I have been in the industry 3 years prior to starting the degree I have learnt more from hands on work than I am from training provider. The qualification is just a piece of paper to show my competence!
Yes, lots. We have a sports and social club which runs many social events through the year including an annual sports day for all offices! There are also lots of sports events which happen through the week either at lunch or after work which you can sign up to!
Yes
Because they are a company which cares about your development and everyone is so friendly so its a good environment to work in. Also the size of the company means there are tonnes of opportunities.
Don't be nervous about the interview, the interviewers will be friendly! If you do get the job make sure you ask about the benefits system with your buddy.
