Construction, maintenance and removal of overhead electrical lines and housing service electrics. Involves working at height, manual handling and ground skills e.g. constructing cable devices.
Since the beginning of my training, I have learned plenty of new skills such as climbing poles to access work positions, methods of handling large objects, awareness of safety features, use of tools and identifying them, work procedures and mandatory documents e.g. risk assessments.
There is a large majority of practical work involved, with a wide range of different tasks within the overhead lines roles. Includes physical fitness and strength gained. Everyday there is always something new to do or somewhere new to travel to on the job, and communicate with customers within a great team you work with.
Our programme is clearly in sighted with consistent notifications and news from the training team and any tasks/surveys or work based tasks needed doing.
