I am currently finalizing the end of a contract. I am putting together Target Price PCRs (price cost reconsolidations) to send to the client. This involves putting together a cost pack which compares the target price and the final price. I use data off the cost report and target prices that were put together at the start of the contract.
I have learnt people skills, how to address myself formally to the client and subcontractors, I have learnt a lot on excel, and improved my math's skills, I am beginning to increase my knowledge on unit rates of items we use when pricing schemes.
I enjoy the fact I don't have to go to uni full time, I can work and then have a break to study. It breaks up my job and my study wich to me is important as I didn't really know what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it (going to uni full time or work full time) I get to experience both
It recently went through a change my program which wasn't very well communicated however we have plenty of contacts if we have queries. The course itself is okay, we are working our way through different modules. All learning material can be found online and it depends on your tutor to share this info with you
Plenty. It is all down to your line manager and who you have in your work environment. As I have worked on a number of different contracts I don't find myself struggling for support as I can always email someone I have worked with previously and they are happy to help. Your line manager is a big factor, however mine is great which makes support great
I can email my tutors at any time, I can email the uni support at anytime. I can get a response very quickly and have had no issue with this before. As long as you know who to speak to you're fine. This is always communicated on the handout from uni e.g. teachers phone numbers, and emails
At the minute it doesn't as I have only just done my first 2 years, which is in construction where as my role is on highways. However, I have learnt skills like time management for my essays which helps me meet deadlines in work. I begin my 3 year Bachelors Degree nxt month
Yes. We constantly have events on at the building I work in. These get communicated via email. These includes things at lunch, after work or on the weekend. You can always ask about as well if you are unsure and want to get involved in something. e.g yoga, reading, talks
Yes
I have had a great experience here. I get paid well, my managers have been great, my work has been broad (not just QSing) and I have been allowed to do lots of new things which I haven't done when just leaving college. I like the fact I can travel and network
Make sure there is work lined up for you, don't be afraid to do other jobs that aren't on your job role as this allows you to broaden your knowledge in all departments, anything Kier offer you you should accept e.g. training, working away from home, as its all an experience
