I work in the Recrutiment team and help assist with tasks from a range of teams. My role really does vary but my typical day consists of creating requisitions, posting job roles, writing job adverts, creating job offers and scheduling interviews.
Since being with Kier I have learnt how to cope with deadlines and how to manage my work load effectively. I have also become more confident when communciating over email and on the phone, due to the training that I have been given.
Recruitment wasn't something that I thought about, before being given the opportunity to work within the department. I enjoy the fast pace envirnoment and the positive work that I'm getting involved in. I have also had the opportunity to sit in interviews to gain the experience and see what we look for as a recruiter.
My Apprenticeship is well structured and I have regular visit from my skills coach to check on my process. I also attend my modules in London regularly so I always know when I need to complete my challenges ready for my course.
I recieve a lot of support from my manager as I am able to take time out of work to focus on my coursework. My manager also checks in on me to see how I'm doing with my work and if I need any help.
I recieve a lot of support from OQ, my Skills Coach visits me every 6 weeks to see how I'm getting on with my coursework. I also have access to a range of resources to help me with my work.
The information that I have learnt during my qualification so far, has allowed me to understand a more indepth idea of legisation and processes in a more corporate environment.
Later this month I am attending an Cargyll Workshop, which will help me to get more of an insight into Networking and Planning. The Networking part of the workshop will benefit me the most as this is an importnant part of Recruitment.

I have been supported and given many opportunities since starting with Kier last year. I know that there is also career progression within the organisation, which means that there's always something to work towards.
Take up as many opportunities as you can, as they will give you more of an insight into the business.
