It involves putting estimates together for final costs on either repairs, replacements or new parts for customers. It can also be writing up contracts to outline terms and conditions that are attached with the items requested. This is because my role is based within the commercial function of the business.
I have learnt many skills within excel as I use this predominantly within work as my main software. Also in terms of methods to finding final prices and the approach of work I have learnt from and mirrored other colleagues. Lastly I have developed skills such as interaction skills and presentation tips from being within the workplace.
I really enjoy the programme as there is a balance with both work within the office but also away from the office in a study environment. Plus it is good to gain experience from other friendly work colleagues, whilst being in a working environment. In addition there is more than enough support and help available if required which reassures us.
It is well organised and everything is planned in terms of what dates and times we must attend things through things like timetables. It has also been explained to us how the work contributes to the final qualification and what is also required from ourselves to be able to achieve a good grade.
Plenty of support is offered and received in terms of being flexible with not only working hours but also days of work. They also support us with help lines for any struggles we have whether it be a technical one with IT or just a struggle in general with life away from work.
They offer sufficient support to us as apprentices with plenty of time to complete the work set and also explanations of what is required. Any additional support that is required can be requested and they are more than happy to prompt us with examples to ensure we know how to start the work.
It helps me to perform in my role because it develops general skills that are transferable to the work place. This could be a workshop on excel to give us greater understanding or practicing on presentations to help give us ideas, key techniques of how to deliver and more confidence.
There's plenty of opportunity to get involved in with extra curricular activities. Examples include participating at open days, helping with the princes trust programme and going on the German exchange. All of which you must submit an application to express that you would like to take part and to explain why that is.
Yes
It is a great company with so many opportunities, they offer support of all kinds to ensure you feel part of their family. The work available is very interesting and you won't find yourself bored and thinking what you could do. Plus they offer many incentives financially to their employees.
I would advise to be open to all options within the company and not restrict themselves. I would also advise to have a brief understanding of what the company do and the core value they pride themselves on. Lastly I would give the tip to be as creative and different as they can with their new ideas.
