Warehouse Operative - As a warehouse operative i have many responsibilities, these include picking, binning and decant. Picking involves me walking around and picking parts that are needed to be dispatched. Binning is the replenishment of stock and this is normally done at the end of the shift. I communicate regularly with team leaders and fellow employees.
I am currently undertaking a NVQ level 2 in warehousing. Being a warehouse operative has helped me improve many skills such as effectively communicating. Working in a warehouse has made me much more confident as i am interacting with a variety of people. My knowledge of warehousing has also improved.
I am enjoying the programme so far. My team have been supportive and welcoming, the company culture at Vauxhall is good. My expectations of the programme were that it would be like any other warehouse but to my surprise it was much more structured and everyone is welcoming.
I feel valued by Vauxhall currently as when i started the programme they treated me the same as all the other employees. I was given the tasks that all others were doing and the targets were the exact same. On a few occasions i have been praised by team leaders, this adds a sense of achievment.
My induction was a little long but it involved a lot of information that was necessary. I have been trained on a few tasks already and it has been very beneficial. It was well structured and i got the knowledge that was needed. I always have the support of the managers and team leaders whenever i have a problem. Studying at college has been good but the college is a little far.
If i have any problems, i know that i can confidently share it with my tutor and managers at work and that the problem will be looked at and solved.
I recieve plenty of support from my workplace, any problems are resolved and whenever i need to know information they share it with me. I have a assigned mentor who is very helpful.
The salary i recieve is on a monthly basis, it is a good wage for an apprentice and is adequate for my needs at this time.
At the moment there aren't many company events but this should be increased with time. There are football competitions where you can win football tickets.
Yes
It's a great company to work for and has a great variety of people. The work is rewarding and the salary at the end is very good. Support from Vauxhall is always there.
Attach your CV and be confident. During interviews be calm and research the company before going in. Revise before taking any tests, this will help immensely.
