  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice we learn a mixture of practical and theory, taking part in EASA exams to achieve an aircraft maintenance license at the end of the course. We work in classrooms, workshops, and on aircraft training.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have continued to develop my engineering skills from school and have learnt new skills in he avionics workshop and aircraft theory.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as it is a mixture of theory and practical, it is also aircraft related which I enjoy.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My course is well structured and organised, we have a course timetable to ensure we all now what we are doing right until the end of he programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive support from our employer when we need it, this could be anything from exam support to safeguarding. They help us develop new skills in he workshop and easily understand the theory.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provide support us for exams and practically, in the same way as the employer does.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that throughout the programme I am learning new skills to give me the required knowledge and skills to confidently work on aircraft after my course is complete.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. We are doing a site to site work from Brough to Humberside, and also a bike ride from Humberside to conningsby and back.

  • Yes

  • BAE are a good employer and provide you with the correct skills and knowledge to work on aircraft. They also have good job also available at the end of he course


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Have a passion for aircraft, have basic knowledge of aircraft and the industry and also be passionate about engineering and the practical.
