  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day job involves sponsoring projects and working with different stake holders to make London a safer place.I am currently working on a scheme where I am looking at re designing a junction. My role will change every 6 months so i get to experience something different.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new hard and soft skills throughout my apprenticeship so far. TfL is very good for progression and development and they have sent me on multiple training courses which have aided my development. I have now good better communication skills and i work better in a team. As well as being put on training to help me in my current role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme so fr has offered so many new opportunity's which i would never have got if i had not of gone through the apprentice route. Everyone in my team is so nice and wants to aid with my development and as well as being supportive. The time goes so quickly when i am at work and it does not feel forced to come into work because i want to

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the begin i did not fell like the introduction was the most organised but after a week or two it all sorted it self out. i have regular meetings with my manger, sponsor and placement manger to make sure i am still happy and i know what i am doing or what is coming up

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive so much support the fact that they sent me to uni and i they stick to the twenty percent off the job learning and that my placement manger and manger are happy and comfortable for me to do that. we have also been given mentors to help us earn our IENG

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • thye Uni I attend is what i would expect from the uni the lectures are full of information and i have had a lot of opportunity to do practicals and labs. in march i am going on a geology field trip to support what we are doing in our classwork.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The information i learn at uni will aid my development as it the information is relevant and i can use the information and knowledge gained to help me in my work place. my qualification also works as a motivation to do well with my work place and with in university

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My employer helps organise loads of extra curricular events such as socials and team outings where we get to network and become closer as a team. there a multiple events per month and i usually attend them as i meet loads of new people and friends with in the business

  • 9a. Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • the opportunities they have given me is actually insane and i am enjoying every aspect of the work. The perks you get for just working for TfL are also amazing. TfL has a very high status and just to work for i feel is an achievement in its self. I would not want to be doing anything else.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
  • I would say just be yourself and make sure you do plenty of research and look for the companies behaviours, standards and competency as well as looking at problems the network faces and what we are striving for. So be familiar with the mayors strategies and action plans to make London a better place.
