  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • If I am working at the site office, I usually spend the first 15 minutes walking around the site to review the progress made. Once at my computer I check my emails and determine the day's activities. I attend any meetings I have that day and work with the project team to resolve solution, update stakeholders and manage the project's delivery.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeship scheme I have grown in confidence in the actions I have taken to get task complete and in communicating to my colleagues around the company and the industry. I have developed public speaking skills as I have had to present during meetings and I have also developed self analysis skills as I have had to reflect on my portfolio work and the actions I took to complete the competencies.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My scheme is broken into four 6 month placements around my organisation. During the first year of my scheme I attended college for a week every six weeks. At the end of the first year I then sat the APMQ exam. During the second year, I focused on making my portfolio. This structure worked very well as I new when I had to focus on which sections of the scheme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I was given a Skills Coach from the training provider, they guided me through what I needed to include in my portfolio and helped with allocating time for revision or for the writing of the portfolio. They also facilitated my; start of, mid and end of placement reviews which were all face to face. They were also available for a quick phone call if needed too.

  • The theory and skills I have learned have helped me in my role at work hugely as it gave me the knowledge to understand why we needed to complete a package of work as well as helping me identify why the package of work was important.
