  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Scheduling, in terms of if my project is meeting its deadlines, reporting performance metrics to higher management to asses. Risk management to identify, delegate any risks that may jeopardise time cost and quality. My role is flexible in a sense that I am able to sit and work with other teams.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I would describe the programme as easy, however I have enjoyed the challenge as well as the support given on the way. I enjoy my current role, I am close to home and the company salary is a huge benefit. I like the option to move placement every year as well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is structured well to give us a new placement each year that coincides with university, allowing me to learn and work at the same time. However the only uncertainty that I have is to do with the exit scheme, I am unsure to how this works and would like to know.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have 2 constantly ongoing reviews to ensure our performance and behaviour is up to company standards, as well as a general chat to make sure that we are getting on ok. There are always training sessions for us to go to improve a certain aspect. They may be busy but always help when they can.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support is ideal, because of our small sized lectures we have constant interaction with our lecturer about any queries. the course overseers are always there for any support required, however not always the lecturers that have a business to run. However on the whole is it very helpful for me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well because I am currently studying risk management which is what I am doing in my placement. The terminology is the same, and the skills that I am taught allow me to transfer to the workplace and sometimes even teach some of the people working in my office something.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a range of activities to do across Portsmouth naval base, and the apprentices are quite keen on organising social events for everyone to do something outside of work times. There are also networking events for apprentices to meet each other across different business platforms. Any idea you have is welcomed.
