In my job I have the oppurtunity to do all aspects of computing from cyber security to hardware in the naval ships sector of my company. This will cover anything from the physical acts of computing so putting together cabnets to the documentation of code you have just written at work.
The amount of skills and experice I have gained on this apprentiship is second to nothing. I have gained not only valuable working stills so I am able to become compitent in the career I would like to do when I am older but I am also learning valuable life skills.
I love coming to work every morning, the teams are all so friendly and helpful, the work is always fresh and interestesting, I always meet loads of new people and finally the oppurtunitys I get are something which I wouldnt get going to Uni, which to me is a huge bonus.
It is a very well structured programme , everything is laid out for what they expect of apprentices and also, all the apprentices know what they should be doing, weather it is one day in college or travling to go to a meeting. Everything is well run in this programme which is good.
The amount of support I recieve is amazing, they are supportive of anything I want to do. The attitude is always positive, my mentor is really helpful in providing me with the neccessary help needed to complete tasks, HR is always there if needed, luckily I havent needed HR so far.
None, the college I go to (NESCOT) is awful, they do not help what so ever. The teachers don't want to help or be there, There is no positive re inforcement, If you are not a top student you are not cared for by them. We are treated like children there however we are 20+!
It does not. There has not been much that the college has helped me with towards my working environment, my company has provided me with all the education, the training provider has not really been helpful and it is quite sad, because it could be good, but it isn't.
there are a few however I do find there is a lack of them for my liking. There is sports like football, however not too many people play that. Social events, they are there however there is a lack of them since people are keen for them in the work place.
Yes
BAE Systems is such a good employer, they are always supportive, everyone there is so friendly, and the oppurtunitys you will get compared to other apprentiships is amazing. Another big perk is the money, its really good, plus the qualifications you end up with is all free so it is a lot better than Uni.
Do it. Do not debate it just apply, definitly changed my life for the better, given me a amazing career path and oppurtunitys. They are all so helpful there and also you would get to do stuff like travel which you would not get to do at uni which is a huge bonus.
