My role includes dealing with invoices and other payments. I ensure payments get processed in my department and every supplier is paid on time. Also, I book and organise meetings and events, book train tickets and hotel rooms for Directors, support the department and am a go to person for any advise the team needs.
I have learnt many new skills during this apprenticeship. Firstly, I started this job shortly after leaving school, therefore this job has taught me how to act and behave in the workplace. I have learnt how to be professional when talking to/emailing customers and clients and my confidence has grown.
I am doing a Business Administration apprenticeship. I enjoy my programme as the course is challenging yet very beneficial. It has not only taught me ways to be more efficient in my day to day job roles, but it has also taught me about the wider business and how businesses in general operate and function.
My programme is very well organised. I go to workshops for my apprenticeship once a month for 2 days in a row. Each workshop is about a different module/topic. I get prep work sent to me on an online portal before the workshop to complete to introduce me to the topic. I then get work sent to me after each workshop to test what I have learnt and help me apply the knowledge I have learnt to my company and workplace.
My employer is very supportive about my apprenticeship course. My manager allows me time each week to get on with coursework and ensures I have enough time to finish it all. In a lot of the work I get given, I am to include evidence and knowledge from my workplace. The directors and managers always ensure they sit down with me if I ask and they will help me with questions I have or any evidence I need.
My training provider provides lots of support to me. There is an online portal and group forum where I can ask any questions I have. My tutors provide me with their email addresses so that I can ask them for and questions or queries I have. I also have a skills coach I meet with every 6 weeks to catch up and am able to talk to.
My qualification taught me a lot of information and tips to make my day to day tasks more effiecent. It not only taught me about my role but about the whole business. This gave me my knowlede of business which helped and gave me more confidence when talking to clients and customers in my role
There is many ectra-curricular activites to get involved in at my work. There is football matches on the field every Wednesday lunch that anyone can join and play in. There is a gym on site that all employees can use. There is also lots of social events that my department take part in.

Kier is a great company to work for. Along with all of the benefits, My team are not only colleagues but friends. The environment is very social and friendly and everyone made me feel welcome when I joined. Being such a big company, there is always lots of opportunities to progress. I have only been at kier for 6 months but already have made lots of progression in my role!
With Kier being such a large company, for me, joining felt quite overwhelming. But my advise would be to stay calm as the application process was not as scary as it may seem! The recruitment team are all so lovely and made me feel relaxed during my interview. I love my job and working for Kier, and im sure you will too!
