As an apprentice I am still learning my role and on a day to day basis I am being taught new things whether it be in the workshop or in the classroom. When in the workshop we are usually set a task which we work towards to complete. In the classroom we learn about knowledge and gain information about different things.
In my apprenticeship I have gained many skills especially within the workshop. Examples of these skills are being able to file a datum, radius and schamfer. I also have learned how to drill holes properly and how to ream and tap holes in order to create a thread. I also have learnt how to use lots of different equipment and become more skilful with them.
I really enjoy the programme that is my apprenticeship and I believe that when I am finished with it I will have learnt so many new skills and so much knowledge which I would not have been able to gain anywhere else. I will then be able to take all of that with me wherever I go which I really appreciate.
I believe that my programme is structured and organised very well. I think this applies to the work that is set, the jobs we do in the workshop and our weekly schedule. For example, we often do 4 days within the workshop and 1 in the classroom which I think is a good way for us to have our weeks.
From my employer I believe that I could get support from them for anything that I needed, whether it be that I am struggling in the classroom or within the workshop or if I needed any support with things not related to work. This could be mental health or financial problems.
Whenever I am in the workshop or the classroom I never feel as if I can't ask if I ever need help. I feel very supported within my workplace and I feel that I could ask for help in anything. We have all been told that if we need help all we need to do is ask.
I believe that the qualifications that I will earn throughout my apprenticeship definitely apply to the role that I am within the business. Everything that comes within those qualifications for example the different work and knowledge that is set is very much vital to my role and will always help me perform better.
Yes, there are. I have not heard about many but I know that there are. An example of an extra-curricular activity would be what we have been doing recently. We are taking part in the Royal Navy Challenge in which we have been put into groups and been given the task of building a boat which will be used to sail around a course.
Yes
I believe that the opportunities which can be had in this company are incomparable. I feel so lucky to be within this apprenticeship and I would for sure recommend it to anyone that I know. Everything about the business is brilliant and the fact that at such a young age I could join the apprenticeship scheme in order to gain new skills is amazing.
The only advice that I could give to anyone else that is applying to the apprenticeship scheme is that you should make sure that you give it your all and try to excel. I would also say that it is brilliant working here and that it is a fantastic opportunity that anyone would enjoy.
