Work is set from the project manager and section engineer within the team i have been assigned to. I attned different meetings that relate to the work i have been set and i often present my work and raise any issues i have faced. I often find work being assigned to me from different teams / funcitons which i must manage
I have developed my iniative and attention to detail. I have often raised issues and looked deeper into specific details that often may be missed, in doing so i have managed to raise flaws within the designs and drawings. I have also developed my presentation skills, i have done this by presenting on a regulary basis
i generally do enjoy my apprenitceship programme, some work set can often be long winded and repetative. However, some weeks can be completely the opposite, as i work for a constuciton company i often find my selfs working and shadowing site engineers, which exposes my to vital and new expereince.
i feel that my programme is somewhat structureded. In terms of my block release to Anglia Ruskin, it is very organised and the work and assgnments are clear and updates are regurlaly. On the contrast, my work life can be unorganised at times, where there may be a slight lack of work (this is a rare occasion)
my employer offer plenty of support. My project manager has stated on many of occasions that if there are any issues to raise them ASAP so they can be resolved. Also, the apprentice manager goes above and beyond in this, she goes out her way to ensure that all employees are OK.
My course is somwhat distance learning. I ampohysically at Anglia Ruskin University for 4 weeks per academic year, they offer plenty of online support. The support varies from assignent and work support to personal issues and even financal issues. The support can offered either during a block week release or via email or phone.
I feel that the qualification will be essential now and in the future, i plan and strive to become a project manager / construciton manager, and studying for a Civil Engineering with project management will put me in a good position for any career opportunities with knoweldge and expiernce.
Unfortunatley no, as i work in birmigham and live a distance away, it can be awkward to take part in and activities. Any sporting events will require a change of clothes which can be too much when commuting on public transport. There are frequent social events which i have attended.
Yes
The apprentice programme is top class in terms of education provided and the work place environment (from my expierence). There have been a few issues which majority have been resolved quickly.
