  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my current role I am working on contract delivery and communicating with the customer. It requires a lot of organisation, communication and chasing of other functions. I go to college once a week which teaches you the content that you need for every day work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is extremely well structured where by you have the opportunity to try a different placement every 12 months, this gives you the opportunity to see what areas and skills within the business you are strongest in. One day a week at college allows you to bring what you have learnt in to the workplace. The additional opportunities that the scheme brings for example workshops are also a great addition to the programme.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It allows you to learn the role of a project manager in isolation first so that when you are in the business you can then apply it. If you have any questions these can be clarified in a closed environment before going into the placement.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Starting my apprenticeship at BAE has been the best opportunity so far for me, being an older student I have skills that I have gained previously however the additional opportunities and platforms that this programme can give you are hard to come by elsewhere and I am very lucky to have been given this role.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Be yourself, you don't necessarily have to know everything to be chosen, your personality can fit the programme also. You don't need to know exactly what you want to do in the future, just show passion for why you want to be give the opportunity.
