Its really what you make of it, ive chosen a hardware role so I physically setup hardware and do configurations of kit. Often used as a sort of handy man as well as you know, cheap apprentice labour! Ive vaired from running cables to performing checks on kit to see if its working correctly.
Learnt some basics on how to setup switches and such using juniper, hoping to learn more. Ive obviously matured a lot and learnt how to present myself in the workplace. Logically ive improved from overcoming tasks and learning physical roles such as building servers racks and so on. I'm looking forward into moving into a more specialised role
I would say very much, I can really choose exactly what role I want to fulfill and can swap with ease. Ive had many opportunities to move around workplaces and I'm excited for the opportunities that I know are to come. I enjoy the social aspects
Pretty well organisational wise. The college I'm send to is despicable and really needs to sort its stuff together. BAE has had issues signing contracts and such but mainly down to college messing us about. The structure is set y quite maluable, such as choosing how long your placement is which is quite nice but can lead to some open ends.
The options are there. I believe there provide healthcare availible for physical and mental health. I know co workers with physical injuires are given the time they need off as well without issues and so BAE is very supportive in that way. My manager is very down to earth and really assists with anything needed.
Oh dear oh dear. nescot is abysmal. Students hand in months late and get the same grades as peple who hand in on time. The lecturers are half clueless and give next to support when asked, mainly they get angry. When ive asked about support it seems to be pass the parcel with who has to deal with it. Rergarding serious safe guarding abuse issues they handled the situation appauling as well, potentially endangering a student further
Arguble. Some subject and vendor qualifications have really helpe dme understand aspects of the role further such as learning cisco's CCNa courses, but a lot of the subjects within the qualfification are useless and outdated, not to mention mind numbing. However as said CCna has helped with my hardware setup.
Yes plenty. Football is a email list I'm signed up for. BAE off bscc I think its called which means cheap socials every once ina while, taking £1 out the paycheck per month. Within teams I made friendships that means I have socuals with them a lot unofficially. Project management apprentices also plan a yearly ball.
Yes
Ive personally gained a lot from my experiences within the company. I really feel ive been given a blessing in the form of an opportunity for a career. I altrready have recommended BAE to a friend and he has since got a job and loves it himself. BAE really is a great way to kickstart your career.
Do your research into BAE, have knowledge of the products and what work is done in each sector. Having an interest and passion help, remain confident in your interview and your job role and don't be afraid of criticism. Use it to improve and learn from mistakes you made, I made many and have grown stronger, impressing my bosses while at it.
