higher apprentice - technical Review

My role has me giving a supporting hand to other colleagues who may need someone to tie up loose ends to jobs in exchange for a bit of knowledge in their role. This allows the business to move forward whilst giving me knowledge I would otherwise not necessarily gain as my projected role is to be in another area. Other tasks in my day to day role include rotations in similar roles to what I am projected to do as it gives me a more rounded view of the business I'll be in.

Thanks to my role, I'm currently developing my time keeping/management skills. This is proving extremely useful when I fall into my supporting role where several people will ask for help by having certain tasks completed in a set time. Another skill I'm developing is teamwork, coming from an office with a small team running a big operation, teamwork is vital and this environment is helping expand that skill.

I'm really enjoying my programme, I've been given opportunities I never thought I'd get and are being treated in the office as another skilled colleague. When I'm in need of help, people don't hesitate to pass on their knowledge and give me a helping hand and vice versa.

My program is well structured and well paced. When working with the right team such as I am, you are given a road map of your apprenticeship with whatever beats you must hit at whatever time. This can include your percentage on your NVQ modules as well as when certain rotations will start. Sometimes certain marks may need to be pushed back or forward but my team ensures that they will happen if they deem it a necessary task to see through.

I'm given the time I need to follow up on NVQ work and are always given time to complete a work related task in a time that suits both me and the company. It's organised with enough time in mind to keep tasks running steadily whilst allowing time for more experienced employees to sit down and take me through the ins and outs of their jobs.

I'm given as much support and help as I need from my training provider. My training provider's goal is to support me when and if I need it. If I believe that certain training internal or external may also benefit me towards completing my qualifications then they would look into the logistics of said training and report back to me on their findings.

My qualifications earned within the business help me in my role as it provides a better understanding of the business as a whole which in turn allows me to expand my knowledge and experience in m y role to present better results in the end. Going through the training for my qualifications gave me a more in depth view within my role today.

There are a couple of extra-curricular activities within the office, spanning from out or work hours sporting activities with the team and volunterring work, the latter of which is supported financially by Siemens. These volunteering activities vary in many different ways from school events to workshops, all allowing Siemens employees to give back to their communities one way or another.

When training for qualifications, Siemens will not hesitate to give an apprentice the support they need in order to not just pass but succeed.
